How to Remove Stains from Concrete: Tips for Using a Rust Stain Remover

• Determine the level of stain: If you have already tried home remedies and they simply did not work, this is how you’ll know it’s a job that absolutely requires Magica Rust Remover. Perform a quick overview of the area and get a sense of the size of the stain and any potential challenges.
• Prepare the area: Try to create as much ventilation in the area as possible, if you’re working in a garage or basement (if you’re outside in the open air, no worries). Make sure you wear gloves and eye protection, and ideally you should also wear long-sleeved pants and shirts to protect your skin. Rinse off the concrete and let it completely dry before applying the rust stain remover.
• Apply: Spray the cleaner on to the rusted area in accordance with the cleaner’s instructions. Allow the cleaner to sit on the rust for several minutes before you continue with the next step.
• Scrub: After the cleaner has had enough time to react with the rust and begin the process of chemically breaking it down, you can then begin scrubbing the surface of the concrete with a stiff nylon brush. Don’t leave the cleaner on for too long—if you do, it could cause permanent discoloration.
• Pressure wash: If there are stains that are especially tough to remove or simply hard to reach, you can leave the cleaner on the stain for about 10 minutes and then use a pressure washer in the area. Not only will the hose rinse away the acid, but it will also force a jet of intense water to strip the stain away from the surface.
